ERGH!
While running a program to optimize my registry, my computer crashed. Therefore, the registry was fu**ed. Therefore, I have to reformat my hard drive.

Therefore, all the pictures from day 3 of Death Valley are only available as small pics at Snapfish.

Therefore, the full day I spent finding rare mp3s from the 80s was wasted.

Therefore, the awesome icon set of 80s lyrics I made and was so proud of is gone.

Therefore, all the movies of the Salt Creek pupfish in Death Valley are destroyed.

Therefore, the information on what flight [info]nfayre is arriving on this evening is gone (although I remember enough to fake it perfectly well...)

-----

THEREFORE, if I sent you anything cool in the last 2 months, or you sent me anything cool in the last two months, PLEASE email it back to me!

Oh, I back up regularly, absolutely. About every month or two. It's been about two months. Guess what I was originally planning on doing today? Backing up! That's right! I lost about the maximum I could possibly lose.

Therefore, I am not in as good a mood as I had originally hoped.

Beethoven's Fifth Argument...
I just HAD to share this with y'all. I found parts of it absolutely laugh-out-loud funny. Sid Caesar and Nanette Fabray having an argument to the melody of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Stolen from VeryShortList.

UGH!
Like I haven't got enough on my mind yet, the fall semester catalog came out yesterday. I already knew what classes I needed for my degree and which were next. Of course of the three classes I needed, the two art related ones are scheduled EXACTLY alike (both Monday evenings at 5:40). So I can either take something that isn't as applicable to my degree and career or have ANOTHER semester of only two classes.

I am NEVER graduating!!

Death Valley Picture Post #2 - The Busy Day, Pt. II...
...also known as "From the Sublime to the Ridiculous."

Do you know what the outskirts of a once-bustling ghost town needs? In the middle of stark desert beauty and mountain ranges, with crumbling facades of a once vibrant life?

Wacky art.

Death Valley Picture Post #2 - The Busy Day, Pt. I
Why did I title this part 1? Because I have almost 60 pictures from the second day we were in Death Valley, and I can't seem to whittle them down more, and I don't expect y'all to dig into a batch that big. For what it's worth, there's this many because we got a LOT done on the second day.

Feelin' brave enough to dig in?

I GUESS so... )

The rest is in the next post... Comment here on any of these pictures or to tell me what the heck type any of the flowers were.

A Tale of Maxie...
There's a certain type of toy Maxie loves to play with. Many times when we have an individual food wrapper, such as a travel pack of something or such, Martin will tie the leftover package in a knot and throw it for Maxie, who will retrieve it a couple times and then skitter it around the kitchen floor.

Our fridge is kind of old and is missing the bottom grill on the front, so occasionally a toy will skitter underneath it. That happened today while I was cleaning the kitchen. So of course, being a Maxie Mom and not wanting Kitty to be Sad, I tried to retrieve his toy from underneath. I couldn't get it out, but I found a different wrapper, a Pretz wrapper instead of a Fig Newton wrapper. Well, I figured, he lost a toy under the fridge and here's a toy back from under the fridge. So at least the cat will be happy. So I threw the toy for him and off he went to play with it. Then I continued house cleaning.

I was vacuuming later, and there, in the middle of the carpet, was the Fig Newton wrapper. Apparently, not only did he remember his toy was under the fridge, AFTER going off and playing with another one, but he could retrieve it when Mom could not. Beyond that, he also pulled one other toy and a stir stick I didn't know I'd lost out from under the fridge. And not only did he remember which toy was where that he still wanted out from under the fridge and remember to go back and retrieve it, he moved it away from the OTHER toy and stick from under the fridge, because he knew specifically THIS is toy I want and NOT the second one of the exact same type.

He's an awesome cat.

---------

In other news, does anyone know anything about replacing windows? Some people replaced Mom's and I have some questions about the workmanship (or lack thereof). I have a couple pictures where they used shims and such to make the windows fit that I want to run by someone who knows more than I, so I know if I should call them on the carpet for this or contact the state contractors board.

A complete waste of processing power...
How would you like a puppy?

But not any puppy! A puppy that doesn't wee everywhere and eats nothing but processing power!

If you go here you can have a little beige puppy on your desktop. He sleeps, you can brush him, you can pick him up, he chases a ball, you can scratch his tummy... in theory he can eventually learn new tricks, too! And he's free! Yes, you need to turn off the splash screen pimping Cottonelle TP, and he occasionally sleeps in a bed with the logo, but DUDE! Free computer puppy!

This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I like to squander my tiny amount of processing power on. That and the sakura flowers falling on the tiny puppy...

A shot of my desktop with the puppy and the sakura flowers... )
