Oh, I'm gonna get $#!+ for this one....
Large piece of artwork (well, photomanip...) behind the cut.

If you do not agree with the opinion expressed in the piece of artwork, remember this is only my opinion being expressed on the artwork, and your mileage may vary. The artwork expresses an opinion which may be unpopular. Those easily put off by differing opinions may wish to avoid clicking on the cut.

If that isn't enough disclaimer for you, I don't know what is...

Wow, I thought you did a really fantastic job with that picture! ^^ Where did you get the original piercing pictures?
Fritters: Ed Confused by Frittersfritters on April 11th, 2005 09:49 am (UTC)
Honestly, I don't remember. It was a site that had lots of people who sent in shots of their piercings and I just snagged a bunch and popped them on poor Audrey here...

Is it obvious I'm being sarcastic? Cause I've gotten comments on DevArt that make me think maybe this is being taken seriously....

ha! that's great. I especially like the one coming out of her chin. The one in her cheekbone is a close second.
hehehe.

None of them are make believe! Most of them are from the exact same place in the corresponding picture I took them from! I think the only ones that aren't EXACTLY the same place are the balls and those are pretty traditional piercings...

See, I like piercings, but I think Audrey looks terrible with them. X3 Even if it was just one or two, someone with her classic beauty and her grace and elegance just doesn't need piercings, and they don't fit on her at all. (Though I do like the Bridge.)

You did a great job with it, though. The piercings were all placed quite well. I have to agree with whoever commented on the chin one and the cheek one.
Fritters: Ed Confused by Frittersfritters on April 11th, 2005 04:00 pm (UTC)
OOC, if you think of the most beautiful women in the world can't carry off the look, why do you think you can? (No offense) Piercings draw attention away from your face and people end up looking at the jewelry. Do you really want that? And in my opinion, it detracts.

Not trying to be a bitch, just looking for an honest discussion.

What prompted this???
Fritters: Ed Confused by Frittersfritters on April 11th, 2005 04:03 pm (UTC)
Mostly fuckallyall.com's image feed. So often I go there and see picture after picture of people showing off their latest hole, usually when it's still scabby or inflamed and I wonder what are they thinking? Do they really think it looks good? And even if they really do think it makes them Teh Hawt, why would they want to show it off when it's all disgusting?

You can only look at so many pictures like that before it brings about some sort of response...

I think you're right -- people will read the image as they will. Some will laugh at the sarcasm, others will nod in agreement. :)

I had my nose pierced a few years ago (okay, about 5 and a half years ago) but took it out a couple of years ago, because everyone and their dog had their nose pierced. I liked having it. I still have a total of 9 holes in my ears, and I like those. It's an expression of individuality, yeah, but multiple piercings don't suit many people. And many people don't know when to stop, or what will actually look good on them.
Fritters: Ed Nodding by Frittersfritters on April 12th, 2005 07:21 am (UTC)
I've actually considered more on my ears as well, but yes, few people can actually determine what works on them....
Robyn Goodfellowrobyngoodfellow on April 12th, 2005 12:18 am (UTC)
Personally, I have nothing against piercings... I have one ring in one ear, and three in the other. But...
I find it extremely difficult to look someone in the face if they have facial piercings (although there are a few exceptions), and I'm really not sure why. I have two theories.
1) I was taught to look someone in the eye when I'm speaking to them, and facial piercings distract me from that eye-contact, which makes me uncomfortable.
2) Some little voice in my head is saying 'that must've hurt' hurt=pain=bad=uncomfortable.

As for the exceptions... I mostly seem to be able to look someone in the face if the piercings aren't intended specifically to draw attention. It was quite some time before I noticed taeha's nose ring. Likewise with the small ball just below rainamoon's lower lip. And the exception to the exception... a tattoo artist with three barbells through his eyebrow. Rings... I can't look at, but it didn't seem to be a problem with that guy.

I don't know if that was relevant, or if it even made any sense... but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Fritters: Ed Peering by Frittersfritters on April 12th, 2005 07:25 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm fine on ears being done as well. It's the facial stuff that really distracts me, too. And I agree, that's a lot of the point, you don't see the person, you see the holes and the jewelry.

It seemed relevant to me...
perlee_grace on April 12th, 2005 01:57 am (UTC)
Interesting concept and well-presented. I agree with you re piercings--after all, what is really the point (no pun intended) in it if it detracts from your natural beauty? I'm sorry, I'm just not into publicly displaying pain like that.
Fritters: Cat Goes Pbtht by iconfetishfritters on April 12th, 2005 07:29 am (UTC)
Maybe I'm one of the few, but I only see the jewelry. You lose any attractiveness hiding behind it.

Personally, I think the picture is cool. Even though I quite like piercings. But I must say that there is a point where it goes too far (eg: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/metalmuzzle/6ee710de.jpg - thats just plain ugly. He looks like that giant sand-vagina monster in star wars).

I think, on the right face, a piercing or two can set it off wonderfully, in a similar way makeup or (conventional) jewlery can. But yeah, there are limits. And I'm probably sounding like a hella-chauvanist pig by this point, so I'll stop
