Incredible!
Since we're low on money right now, I decided to make Martin a birthday cake! And I must say, it's an incredible cake. It is damned awe-inspiring.

Seriously, you're filled with awe at this point, right? I mean, that's the sort of birthday cake that just leaves you speechless.

In other news, I have no idea how we're going to eat it...

Assuming the gooey stuff oozing out is marshmallow (as oppose to cake batter), it looks pretty tastey.

That would be cinnamon butter icing...
Tertomakobriefs on June 8th, 2005 03:00 am (UTC)
That's edible?
Frittersfritters on June 8th, 2005 03:02 am (UTC)
Actually, the bottom layer is entirely intact and well frosted, it was the second layer that just exploded on me. And yeah, it's edible, if drowning in frosting. It's (supposed to be) a cinnamon swirl cake with cinnamon butter frosting....

It may be the overabundance of frosting. But hey, if you ever want a cake like this, let me know, I seem to be quite skilled at this!

I'd eat it.

What flavor is it?

Cinnamon swirl with cinnamon butter frosting.

Frittersfritters on June 8th, 2005 07:20 am (UTC)
Good description! Martin and Richard were tossing around the description 'tectonic' as well... I basically put the second layer of cake on after frosting the first one, then the top broke up some, then I put all the rest of the frosting on in an attempt to hide the damage, but then because I used too much frosting underneath the whole thing went sliiiiiiiiiiding and the frosting on top started ooooooozing and it just went downhill from there, literally.

Put it in a large bowl, stick a candle in it, have him blow out the candle then eat it together out of the bowl with forks/spoons in front of a movie.
Fritters: Ed Nodding by Frittersfritters on June 8th, 2005 07:21 am (UTC)
That's damned close, actually, we basically chunked off pieces onto plates after doing the whole candle scene. More pics may be forthcoming....

I've seen worse on the iron chef. You just needed a few edible flowers, arranged in two clumps with sweet basil leaves, and a grateing of white choclate sprinkled overall, to tie it in to a "I meant to do that" cat trick. You could also serve extra frosting on the side to dip any dryer chunks in, like a cold fondue. I think I coud have fun decorating this cake, but enjoy it now when it's fresh. I can someday have you make another and go to town.

Did you hear about the kitten? ask martin if not. I thought it would be fun to offer him from one house filled with cats to another(HaHa like you have space). He also is a great stress reliver without pills. I just lay down and hold him on my chest and as he purrs I focus into the now and let the worries wait for a while. He is wrestling buddys already with two cats and is a joy to watch when he plays with everything that he can find. I love when they zoom around, stomping thier feet making a choo choo train noise. at the same time 6 is a hell of a lot of cats. I may have to put him up for adoption with the others...........but not tonight. Hes happy but putting pressure on my older cats that don't want to play. He is also the first that was pretty much accepted into the group without any real fighting. Is this a sign from God that I shoud keep him?? If so and it happens again later when do I stop??

btw, the missing kitten has reappeared, and looks fine. I hope to set up the cage this weekend to catch them.

Good point about the "meant to do that". And I'm sure I'm capable of recreating it *snicker*

The kitten does sound adorable, glad the missing one appeared. What color is the one you were talking about?

You know, in some middle eastern countries, you'd likely be arrested for that.. ;)

Happy Birthday Martin (even though I keep forgetting to say it and I'm now saying it LATE.. DUH!) And I guarantee, absolutely, one hundred and fifty percent, that that cake is ten times more pleasant to look at than to hear me sing happy birthday. Really. Count your blessings that I wasn't there to sing. Honestly. I think the cake died just thinking about such a horrible situation.

Hey! It's all my fault!
thudpucker: squeek - by frittersthudpucker on June 8th, 2005 09:15 am (UTC)

Thanks! And it was really good. An intersting topological exercise to eat, yes, but delicious none the less. And I've heard an entire room full of drunken submarine sailors just in from six weeks underwater and a half dozen overworked strippers bellowing whatever each individual truly believed in his or her heart of hearts to be the proper lyrics to "Tainted Love" ("Don't touch me please, I cannot stand the way you SNEEZE..."), so I could probably survive a round of 'Happy Birthday' from you.
