Me, too. I stopped by Petsmart and played with some last weekend and it reminded me how highly allergic I am to them, which is good because otherwise I'd want to take one home. But yeah, it's a great fun video and makes me miss my babies, too.

Utterly adorable!

(We can't have rats as pets in Alberta. It's officially a rat-free province. So I must enjoy them vicariously.)

I know, it actually annoys the crap out of me. I find it hard to believe it's keeping people from having them. We're not allowed to have ferrets in California but everyone does anyways...

Sorry. Libertarian. Government rules that affect people's own personal business annoys me.

Heh. I don't know if you heard about the kerfluffle that happened when a shipment of lab rats ended up at the City of Calgary dump rather than the University of Calgary. The dump manager was on the news assuring everyone that there was no way the rats could survive the dumpster crusher. And if they did, they were lab-bred so they wouldn't survive the weather. And if they did that, the Rat Patrol was standing ready. :-D

Actually, I do understand the reasoning to ban rats. They are very destructive to stored crops.

I like rats though. Much more intelligent than mice. And I adore ferrets.

Strange... I hadn't heard of the ban before but googling gives a pretty clear (but oddly one-sided) view. The pro-ban articles are many and have a rather impressive list of justifications which if true makes sense.

But anti-ferret publications also have impressive lists of justifications, it's just in the case of ferrets they are all invalid and thus so is the ban. -Disclaimer, I'm a member of Legalize Ferrets.org. Anyone have a good anti-rat-ban reference that counters the government's claims?

That said...aside from being an inexpensive pet I can't say I find rats particularly appealing. There are so many fantastically more interesting pets to be had. Rats are, almost by definition, common and ordinary. -But the video is very cute. ;-)

"It's officially a rat-free province."

Oh, my. They can't possibly believe that just declaring that they wish to be rat free will make them so? There are rats in Antartica, for pity's sake - and when we get to the moon, we'll probably take them there, too :)

"psqueak"

Psqueak (pee'-squek) - irrational verb - the noise made when frightened while urinating. see also: stain removal.

Wow, that's absolutely adorable! *swoons with rat love*

I came here to worship at the shrine of your icon-making abilities. They're the best I've ever seen! And now you've totally made my night with this lovely vid as well. Thanks so much :)

Seriously, that's the sweetest darned thing I've heard in ages, and bless ya! You made my evening!

Glad you like the happy little rodents!

I personally really like rats. But it's illegal to have them for pets in Alberta. Illegal! I guess "they" are afraid the sweet little pets will escape, breed and Take Over the World!
I'd love to have a pet rat. They scamper. And sniff. They're cute.
