I'm back...

I Have Now Finished Reading The Deathly Hallows

Those who have also finished and would like to dish, please comment. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ IT DO NOT COMMENT because you WILL see other people talking about it. It would bother me if you went and spoiled yourself.

Well, I was right about Snape. But so what?

Expect some slash fiction about the young Dumbledore and his mates.

I liked the "life goes on" aspect of the encounter with Malfoy in the epilogue.

Yeah, I was right about Snape, too. We rock.

I has hoping the epilogue would have Luna and Neville together. Ever since I saw OOTP in the theatres, I've been shipping them ^_^

It was good... but it was kind of... I dunno... anticlimactic.
Fritters: HP - Cho is Hiro by lidifritters on July 23rd, 2007 01:39 am (UTC)
I can see that.

I've vaguely peeved at JKR, WAY more than 3 of who _I_ consider to be major characters died. There were something like ten deaths or something??
Robyn Goodfellow: spoilerrobyngoodfellow on July 23rd, 2007 02:13 am (UTC)
The only one that made me cry was Fred. Well, no, I cried for Lupin and Tonks a little bit as well.

But the final epic battle between Harry and Voldemort was... like two spells long. And Voldemort ended up killing himself with a backfiring spell?

I mean, yeah, it was an all out war in this book, and I expected people to die... I actually expected Neville to die, but I've expected that since book five...

i watched an interview with her today, actually. Lemme see if I can dig up the link. http://video.the-leaky-cauldron.org/video/795

I know it's 16 minutes long, so here's the basics: In part of it she explains that she was misunderstood or misquoted. She originally had said that two characters who originally had lived, she had now killed off, and the media took that to mean that two main characters die. After she laughs about this her actual words are something along the lines of "it's a bloodbath!"

The epilogue (which is the only part I really read) was so cliché and cheesy that I honestly laughed. Albus Severus Potter? OY.

And why no Sirius Potter?
"You know, that snake girl..."thatsnakegirl on July 23rd, 2007 01:21 am (UTC)
For that matter, why nothing from, you know, the WEASLEY side of the family?? You're telling me Ginny just let him name the kids whatever he wanted?!

bah, I still have no words (and I mean that in the best of ways). Yes, the epilogue was a little sugary sweet, but I think it balances out the rest of the book, which, it should be kept in mind, 12-13 year olds were waiting in line for as well. They deserve that syrupy happily ever after.

I kept reminding myself when things got a bit dark that it was intended to be a kids book. I expected a glorious happy ending that was a bit trite, I just hoped too many people didn't fall in the process.

Still peeved she offed so many people.

thanks again misty, finished the book. =)
I still cant believe how dark and depressing she made 95% of the book knowing it would be read by kids. my friends 10 year old son reads harry potter! *mutters evilly* I agree that another orphan sucked ass. I was shocked about dumbledores history actually. Jon had to come hug me when Dobby died.... *whimpers* Im gunna stop this post now cuz i finished the book less than 5 min ago, im tired, and im rambling, lol.
Fritters: Zim google-eyes by inanefritters on July 24th, 2007 07:03 am (UTC)
Dobby actually effected me pretty damn badly, too. Yeah, it's pretty odd it's considered children's fiction, eh?
