Picture Post: San Gabriel Mission Fiesta

Since I'm doing nothing this Saturday, I figured I may as well do a picture post of what I did LAST Saturday. There was a fiesta at the San Gabriel Mission celebrating their 237th anniversary.

WARNING: This is probably going to be pretty dry.

Here are the best two shots of the mission exterior...

Mom and I wandered over to the Fiesta Proper but they were still setting up. I got a good picture of some rubber ducks at a carnival game, though, and turned them into a desktop for myself. If you want a version of this less washed out or a different size, let me know...

A simply-garbed monk in front of the graveyard/courtyard. This could be right out of history, if it weren't for the tourist sign behind him...

A simply-garbed monk getting a coke from the machine by the gift shop...

I just liked this shot...

A corridor I thought looked cool...

Some hibiscus...

Here's what the church interior looks like...

Father Junipero Serra oversees the garden...

Mom was interested in having some of the fruit. She learned that not only does the fruit have giant spikes on it, when you take the giant spikes off there are thousands of tiny almost invisible spikes all over it, too...

I loved the contrast in that pic. The life and the... not life.

Comment if you want. I know this was a quickie.

In the pic of the graveyard ferris wheel, I notice there's nobody on it..

Wish I coulda done something saturday too, especially since I had a couple things I _had_ to do... (I hate sinus migraines.)

You still got that, hon??

And yeah, the fair had just started so it was pretty thin.

It still hits me every once in a while. This time, since my recent sinus rotorootering, my nose is so clear that I might even have one of my old sinus infections and take weeks to notice it... just what happened, in fact. Taking germ pills for it now; sure it contributed to the ouch.
The empty ferris wheel+graveyard is just so ironic..
