A friend sent me this article from Slashdot. It looks like it may be just a rumour...

No, no, it's for real -- go to http://www.livejournal.com/ to read all about it.

I'm not sure about the software, Frits -- does iJournal have a backup feature?

I've never used anything but the actual browser window, but I know a lot of people use other things, that's why I put the call out here, I figured someone on my friends list might know more about the offline software than me. I'm pretty clueless.

Reread the end of the article, they edited it a tad.

Read the news community. It's all in there. :)

To be honest, I haven't an earthly clue what to use to archive my LJ. But I really need to find something and do it, just to be on the safe side.

They said nothing's going to change, apart from some of LJ's aesthetics.
Frittersfritters on January 6th, 2005 11:16 pm (UTC)
I've seen companies say that before and be way wrong, so I'm going to need more than that to reassure me...

Fair enough. :p
I'm starting to have doubts myself, now..

Hm. Yeah, a way to archive would be nice. I've been printing out hard copies of my journal just for the sake of having a "real" journal, but if I ever wanted to recreate this stuff somewhere, it'd be a bitch to retype it all.

Even copying and pasting would take daaaayyyys.....

Im really new at this but there should be some way to contact the LJ staff. They should know how to back it up and they better not give you any lip because you have a valid concern.
Frittersfritters on January 8th, 2005 02:06 am (UTC)
You can usually get a more learned schmoe to answer you. A lot of the lower level tech goes through users first before it gets to the real peeps. But good point!
