What I Learned This Week
1. Hunley really is crazy.

2. When you're watching Mythbusters, you don't want to hear your boyfriend say "Oh, wow. I have GOT to try THAT!"

3. Lifting heavy bags and scrubbing do not improve your arms when they already hurt.

4. Winter makes your body crave fattening food twice as bad as in summer.

5. I have no idea what people mean by "Oh, Snap!"

6. Wendie Jo Sperber died on Tuesday. Fuck. I liked her.

7. Jason continues to be good at finding neat things on the net, such as Serenity Hand Puppet Movie Theatre (huge movie spoilerage).

8. It's easier to update the Psycho Six page, The World's Sexiest Men and the World's Worst Poetry all at one swell foop.

Sounds like that would make for an interesting life, with such a kitty...
Out of curiosity though, what part of Mythbusters prompted such a reaction? It wasn't the brown note/water torture episode, was it?
Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 02:04 am (UTC)
No, it was the bottle rockets filled with water... Doesn't sound as scary when you include that part, though. Creative editing ^_^

And as I type this, Hunley is licking the carpet where the water used to leak in through the wall.
Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 02:20 am (UTC)
P.S.

A: Added an article you might want to read to the above post

B: You haven't updated your "Island" in a coon's age.
Robyn Goodfellow: insanerobyngoodfellow on December 5th, 2005 02:30 am (UTC)
I know I haven't updated in a while. I really don't have much to add to it. I'll go over it and see if there's anything new though.
Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 02:49 am (UTC)
You've got a graphic not loading. What I do sometimes on my pages is go through searching for link rot... not that that's a problem on yours, I don't think...
Robyn Goodfellow: dancerobyngoodfellow on December 5th, 2005 03:38 am (UTC)
Well, I do only have one page on my website... And mostly it's a link to the P6 site.
I'll probably add a couple of extra links, but that'll be about it. I don't have a lot of stuff worth adding.
Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 04:06 am (UTC)
Well, it's not like it's screamingly important, I have pages much older without being updated. I just thought you might want a reminder.... was I pushy??
Robyn Goodfellow: thingyrobyngoodfellow on December 9th, 2005 04:28 am (UTC)
Nope, not pushy.

I guess all of my cats are crazy too. Except for the spine thing. One bites her paws if you do that. The others are ok. One loves to be petted to a point then bites but not hard. leave him alone for a little while and he wants to be petted again. I've heard a lot abot how weird and crazy Hunley is but he's pretty calm when I'm there. Maybe he hides it?
Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 05:03 am (UTC)
I don't _think_ they mean when you go for that one spot on the base of the tail, I think they mean period...
lironesslironess on December 5th, 2005 05:25 am (UTC)
So they all do the base of tail thing? I had one kitty that had that so bad, once when I was not home she jumped into the hamper and no matter which way she turned, she was rubbing her lower back, and by the time I got home she had bare spots on her wrists from biting. I pulled her out and she was fine, no abraisions or anything. Poor baby. So Hunley has a whole spine thing? I didn't notice when I pet him, but he pretends to be normal when I'm there. Weird.
Fritters: Cat licky - by sunflower_sarifritters on December 5th, 2005 05:31 am (UTC)
Actually, the spine stuff is the one thing he DOESN'T have. Specific touching doesn't seem to do anything, but the behavior stuff is all dead on. And from other things I read all cats have the base of the tail thing, just to different levels. I think that like most people mental illnesses there are differing levels of severity in the hyperesthesia thing.
lironesslironess on December 5th, 2005 07:49 am (UTC)
So is Hunley at the top of the scale? Minus the spine thing.
Fritters: Cat licky - by sunflower_sarifritters on December 5th, 2005 08:34 am (UTC)
Actually, my guess is he has it, but scores about a 40-45 on 100 scale. He's got these...

# Sudden bouts of bizarre hyperactive or aggressive behavior
# Tail swishing
# Large pupils/strange look to the eyes
# Apparent hallucinations – seemingly following the movement of things that are not there or running away from some unseen adversary.
# Vocalization, crying, loud meowing
# Sudden mood swings – e.g. from extremely affectionate to aggressive
# Bouts occurring almost constantly, all day, every day, or once every few days
Fritters: Cat in silly hats by Frittersfritters on December 5th, 2005 08:36 am (UTC)
One of the other cats we got from outside actually had similar symptoms, possibly a grandcat of his. Ollie had the extreme mood swings from affectionate to aggressive. And we're talking extreme.
postrophe on December 5th, 2005 08:34 am (UTC)
Sorry, but except for the hair pulling, the description just sounds like your typical cat...

Most cats I've known (and you KNOW I've known a lot of cats) don't go anywhere near the extremes Hunley does, especially with the desperate needing of attention swinging to the bloody-minded determination to beat the shit out of someone and back. And he's really gotten weird on the hallucination thing, far weirder than any cat I've known...

Hey, you're the one with all the online time...

You know, it didn't even _occur_ to me to Wiki it?

Actually, I googled, wiki'd and snope'd... thot that'd be the first thing you '1337 H^X0r2 would do...

Us 1337 H^X0r2 have to have the brainpower for it to occur to us, first... today has not been a big brain day. Most of the above post was created earlier in the week...

And yet, the wiki entry doesn't let me know when would be an appopriate time to say it (not that I would), though thankfully I now know I ought to be offended if someone says it to me.

Wheee!
I was talking with postrophe the other day and he gave me your lj identity so I've snuck in to friend you. :)

Tag! You're it!

*Runs off giggling*

Re: Wheee!
Cute ^_^

Hey, I remember postrophe mentioning you occasionally, have we ever met?
glittercat13glittercat13 on December 6th, 2005 01:48 am (UTC)
Re: Wheee!
Yep. Not lately, though. RenFaires awhile back; fandom in general, I think; at the LASFS as I recall; at at least one party; etc. (I'm Valentina's mom if that helps. Or, ask Richard. He may be better able to clarify specifics.) I know I've known who you were for quite awhile longer than I think I knew your name. :) Ain't fandom great? And the strange and wonderful intersections/interconnects between RL and LJ. ;>

Before I read any more, and think to comment on anything else, I have to say that I love the hand puppet theater. So I'll be promptly going right back to it for a bit, in just a second.

I just have to say one other thing first, and ask a question. The statement: I have no clue what they mean when they say "Oh, snap" either, and I wish they'd stop, gorramit!

The question: which thing in particular from Mythbusters did he want to try? I may want to try it too. :P

Often on that show I find myself reacting as Kaylee might: "Ooh, shiny."
Frittersfritters on December 6th, 2005 02:02 am (UTC)
Postrophe linked to a Wiki on Oh Snap and I'm still seeing usages of it that don't match at all with what it's supposed to mean....

Martin wanted to try the thing where you fill a soda bottle with water and air until it flies off real high....
OwlDragonowldragon1 on December 6th, 2005 06:54 pm (UTC)
That sounds really fun, maybe once I finally get back out there he and I could give it a try. ^_^
