See "V for Vendetta"

Snarking toward Enlightenmentchaosphaere on March 20th, 2006 12:19 am (UTC)
and take a towel

I think I left a drool trail all the way between the theater and the car

Finally a date movie for sci-fi freaks into bondage (which is half of us)!!!

Then again, Hugo is teh sex anyway...

I wasn't actually drooling in any part, but the film was just so emotionally affecting, I had tears streaming down my face.
Snarking toward Enlightenmentchaosphaere on March 20th, 2006 01:04 am (UTC)
Bah. I'm so shallow. Everyone is talking about how emotionally powerful the movie was, and here I am talking about "yeah I thought he was hot".

Well, good news. It seems the outfits are doing well in eBay, so in theory you will see him EVERYWHERE come October. Not to mention ComiCon.

He was way hot. The mask just adds to his hotness.

I have already seen it. There are no words to say how __________ that film was. I loved it. I ****ing loved it. And some ***hole comes up at the very end when the building blows up and asks me if the seat next to mine is taken. I MISSED THE LAST 8 SECONDS BECAUSE OF SOME- sorry. I got into rant mode. ***holes like that just piss me off to no end.

Re: V
Well then you simply must go see it again, right? If we didn't have other things to do we probably would have sat through it twice. Besides, it will be good for the box office ^_^

But yeah, that was effing inexcusable of him.

Re: V
Yes, I must see it again. Hooray for political statements!
The Voice Of Reason: Guloellonwye on March 20th, 2006 01:38 am (UTC)
I would see it, but I would probably be laughing at the accents all the way through. Fake british accents pain me, because.. well, they're so fake.

Violet Tigress: darksideviolet_tigress1 on March 20th, 2006 02:01 am (UTC)
To Americans who can't everyone in the world speaks English, & the only foreign Accent is a British accent it sounds real enough ;)

Probably about as much as the horribly fake Southern accents you hear in most movies pain me.

All Brits sound the same, all Southerners sound the same, all New Yorkers sound the same, and everyone from France sounds like Maurice Chevalier. Even the women.

Gotta love Hollywood.

Just came back from seeing it, hawt stuff.
Frittersfritters on March 20th, 2006 06:29 am (UTC)
I found it deeply important as well as entertaining as hell.

Saw it Saturday. I thought it was a great presentation, very well acted, and yet it didn't overly impress me. Maybe it was the headache that eventually became a fever flu thing, but I was just not sure of what the message of the movie was. Having seen what the first Matrix movie was, but what the sequels became, and hearing that Alan Moore (who wrote the graphic novel), did not want his name associated with the movie, I'm just still processing my full reaction to it. It gets 3.5 out of 5 stars so far...

I'd suggest seeing it again when you're well, but on the other hand I've read the comic several times, so I already know the message. But, for what it's worth, I heard Alan Moore isn't having his name taken off because he hates the rendition, I'm not sure he even saw it before his name was taken off. He had it taken off because DC has been screwing him over for apparently decades and he just wants absolutely nothing to do with them, period.

SPOILage Below!!!!
I guess one thing that dawned on me was a parallel situation/presentation with the Movie Serenity.

The "Operative' makes a statement that all the things he his doing to prepare a better world for all is one where he knows he cannot be apart of, so he prepares it not for himself as he would not belong there. Part of the 'goal" of the crew of Serenity was to alert people to what this new world really was.

But almost verbatim V says the same things, and while the actions of both are the same, how can these actions of blindly killing anyone who stands in the way of your goal be viewed on hand as a heroic and on the other villainous?

I know they are two separate movies, etc. but when you have two people doing the exact same thing, the belief that what they are doing is right is not enough to actually make it right.

Sorry I'm rambling now.....

Re: SPOILage Below!!!!
That's the thing, belief alone doesn't make it right. You have to know the whole truth, either reavers or death camps, to be able to choose what is really right. Ideas _are_ bulletproof, that's why Mal had to get the signal out. And anyone who keeps people from seeing all of the truth and keeps people from making up their own mind is probably not a good guy. And in both, remember, the people were afraid of their governments.

Re: SPOILage Below!!!!
So how does one define an idea? since for many ideas and beliefs are interchangeable and as a result many "ideas" are not so bullet proof.

( I'm not trying to debate this, just trying to determine what words or concepts people are tossing around as givens are.)

Re: SPOILage Below!!!!
I can't define "idea", I leave that for Mr. Webster. I can only give examples.
