1. Live video of Catalina Island. Because I don't post it enough.

2. RIAA toilet paper.

3. Do you think you come across differently online or exactly the same as in real life? Do you think you would get along with the same people online as you would in real life? All the time?

4. We get to have spazzychic staying with us ALL WEEKEND. Mwahahahaha!

3: I come across a little more...concentrated as I do in real life, but that's about it, as far as I can tell. I would get along with the same people to a certain extent, and some people I would get along with better in 3d than online.

All the time is a tricky part. The nature of online is that you can participate when you want to and how you want to. That luxury isn't always available in RL contact. Some people I can't do all the time, even online.

I'm almost in ur house, eating your foodz.

I'm not the snuggle type (ask thudpucker!) but I will do my utmost to make sure she has a good time. Will that do?

You could subcontract out to some dirty old man to ... er ... give her a hearty handshake as a welcome to our fair state.

You're more likely to visit L.A. in the future than Seattle, I figured you'd want me to keep her!

I think I am mostly the same person online as I am in real life, though I'm definitely a lot more chatty on here. I once had a friend who lived in cali and we talked incessantly online, and then I found I could barely speak to him once we met in person. I'd like to think I've become more outgoing since then though.

I think I could hang with most of my online friends in person, assuming I got past the residual shyness. You guys are cool. :)

Do you consider yourself the same or different?
Fritters: Ed Thinking by Frittersfritters on November 22nd, 2006 07:25 am (UTC)
I consider myself different. For some of the reasons others have mentioned. You get a greater chance to think about responses, for one. Not to mention when I get around people I don't know I either clam up or do the nervous talk-non-stop thing. I asked mainly because I have a couple friends in real life who online we can never find any common interests or anything to talk about but we get along swell in real life. It seems a strange phenomenon, I wanted to investigate it more.

3. Probobly, i've gotten better about this though. On the internet i'm usually much louder and outspoken than I am IRL.
Frittersfritters on November 22nd, 2006 07:26 am (UTC)
I noticed that!!

I'm concerned if I ever get out there again that thudpucker won't let me get back to Cali!!

I think I am pretty much the same on all 'my' online stuff as RL, I do have that piratical alter ego for some craziness that is mostly still me, but with a very different perspective.

I do think that we use online forums for different personal reasons, and so we probably don't connect as well online, not that either are better or worse, just different.

I also can be interested in a variety of different things that people share, in person that is a momentary thing, and online there seems to be a need for more 'frame of reference' than I often have, and when I have nothing to add, I just become a viewer, not a participant. (I also have less time online for personal, since I am usually doing something for that alter ego of mine...)
