So, now that content is being pulled left and right off of YouTube because of google, does anyone know who the NEW youTube is going to be? Where do I look for chunks of old cartoons?

What? What is google doing, any why??
Frittersfritters on April 4th, 2007 06:31 am (UTC)
I wanted to show Martin who Pixie and Dixie were, for criminey. Like they're SUCH huge DVD sellers. And all the Pixie and Dixie had been pulled because it violated copyright. They're not even popular enough to be on Boomerang.

I was hoping since the internet is such a big wild place that someone knew who the up and coming contender might be.
Tanyaanyagotr on April 4th, 2007 06:55 am (UTC)
Gesh! That sucks! I hope someone finds you one.

I've never head of Pixie and Dixie either...

Martin never saw Pixie & Dixie? And Jinx?

"I hate meeses, to pieces!"
Frittersfritters on April 4th, 2007 09:23 pm (UTC)
EXACTLY!!

Duck Dodgers used that line last night and it reminded me that Martin didn't know who Pixie and Dixie were! I was going to show him but google has made youtube all sto0pid now.

Cartoon mice who ran from a cartoon cat. Think the Gay Hamsters meets Tom Cat.

that website I told you about over the phone that time has old cartoons
Frittersfritters on April 4th, 2007 09:22 pm (UTC)
They haven't got it, but thanks for reminding me that was there. A lot of it is links to youtube as well, so they'll probably be losing a lot soon.
Robyn Goodfellow: muses are busyrobyngoodfellow on April 5th, 2007 02:24 am (UTC)
Yeah, but they do use some other video sites as well, which might have your show...

I know this guy who shows up at a certain Burbank restaurant (the one that we frequent) with that other group of strange people, and he is a cartoon archivist. I won't be there this coming Thursday because of religious temporary dietary restrictions, but you could look for him and mention you're a friend of mine. He's very heavy-set, and his name is Steve, and he's as friendly as you could imagine. He owns multiple iPods and uses some of them to carry multitudes of cartoons around with him. If he doesn't have any "Pixie and Dixie" on his person, he might have some at his studio, or else know somebody who has them.

Is he the brown haired one who shows up with about 3 other people and sits at a table in the middle of the second room (not the back room) facing the door?
Matthew B. Tepper: Prosit!asimovberlioz on April 5th, 2007 12:26 am (UTC)
Yes, sometimes with more people, but often with a bald fellow named Jon and a couple of others. They have a website devoted to "The quest for the BEST Hot Dog in Los Angeles."

By the way, you may inform thudpucker that I finally read the chapter today in one sitting, and will be emailing him a few comments.

For good copywrite-protected piracy, I always go to http://movies.tubezoom.com/ first. But that's just recent movies and TV shows...

For cartoons I usually go to http://www.retrojunk.com, but I don't think they'll be able to help you with Pixie & Dixie... maybe try a search for Mr. Jinx?

OMG those are GREAT links! Thank you, Captain Slinky! They don't give me P&D but I'm sure in the upcoming months they will be more and more useful!

...but you like the whole Creator Credit idea!
(Especially lj icons...)
Is it 'cuz the lawyers aren't even letting short outtakes slip out of their slimy claws?
Frittersfritters on April 5th, 2007 06:51 am (UTC)
I'm confused. Do you mean who made the icon or the person who created the original art? How does this compare with pulling content that is well known and most people know the creator versus unknown things with no DVD distribution options?
postrophe on April 5th, 2007 07:57 am (UTC)
Just with your icons.. and that list of people who won't credit... I thought you were all in favor of creative control - which is the reason the youtube stuff got yanked, after all... (yanked so it can't be ganked?)

Admittedly, since it has no current recognition left out there, you'd think the studios would like having clips available online, for advertising (or just reminding folks it exists...) ...I can't understand it either...
Frittersfritters on April 5th, 2007 08:09 pm (UTC)
It's not so much about creative control as it is about people knowing who made it. Anyone can look up the credits for pixie and dixie on imdb, but a random icon in someone lj? Not so much....
