Well, it's official...
I went to Frys and they confirmed that my laptop has a new life as a doorstop.

Anyone out there selling an old laptop or 3 optical zoom digital camera? MP3 player with 2gig or more?

Mine is probably the power supply, though, and it's on the board. So I need a whole new board.

Does it really need to be a laptop, as in how often do you take it out on the road and use it? They can put together pc boxes real cheap these days...

I'd feel like I was taking a giant step back. Not to mention with my back troubles, there's a lot of time I use it in the other chair, on the couch, in the bedroom...

Are you at least able to salvage the hard drive? You could put it into an external enclosure ($19.95 and up at the F-Word) and at least save the data. Then you could return the enclosure and tell them "it doesn't work."

I, er, that is to say, a friend of mine has done that twice.

I can pop my hard drive into Martin's comp, so I can still access the data fine.

If I hadn't sold my old laptop to stupid I would totally send it to you. But you wouldn't have liked it.
Frittersfritters on July 4th, 2007 06:14 am (UTC)
'Cause of the hard drive size?

And the RAM and the fact that it's generally a piece of crap. But it's Brian's piece of crap right now.

I'd need the latest version of Pshop, so probably PC since I've already got the win version. Sorry.

No problem. Hadn't made up my mind to sell it yet anyway.

I'll look into pricing for mp3 players and if i find something in my price range, i'll give you my 20g player.
here's the potential downside: it's old. no longer supported by creative. it's a creative nomad jukebox. it'll be up to you to find the relevant software. i don't think that i still have the software it came with (i have no idea why i would have gotten rid of it. i'll let you know in the next couple of days.

ONLY get a new one if you would've anyways, okay?

And Martin has an old 30 gig Creative Nomad, so I might be able to use that software.

P.S. We have a PR pressie for you...

Let me know if you need my laptop on loan. I like it too much to sell it but you can borrow it for a few months till you get a new one for yourself. Just to warn you though, it weighs alot. Let me know and let me know when I can grace your doorstep again and return the purse. =)

Re: loaner
I'm gonna see if financial aid can free up what I've got in my bank account today, but yeah, I'll probably want the loaner sometime this weekend. Thanks oodles! And BTW, we'd like to take you and John out to dinner sometime soon for all the help while we were away...
