More potpourri..
My Brain: Ahhh. A chill in the air. The leaves are turning. It's raining. What a lovely autumn.

Retailers and TV: It's Winter.

My Brain: No, it's not. It just barely stopped feeling like summer. It's autumn.

Retailers and TV: No autumn. Winter. Look! See all the snowflakes we've pasted up? Have a Christmas special. WINTER!!

My Brain: But... but... Winter doesn't start until something like December 21st. Technically most of the "Christmas Season" is autumn!

Retailers and TV: No autumn for you! Winter! Go shopping! Watch specials!

My Brain: But... but...

This is why I'm not going to see The Golden Compass.

When realizing both my cat and I have the same problem turning down free food, the following conversation popped into my head...

Me: Uh??

postrophe: Biscuits.

Me: Biscuits??

postrophe: Biscuits.

Me:...I'll be dressed in five minutes.

I don't know about you guys, but I never understand people who give Christmas-related gifts as Christmas presents. "Oh. Yay. Something I can't use for another 11 months. I'll put it away somewhere and hope I can actually find it and remember it in 11 months."

However, every review I've been reading since then stresses how much they have removed all traces of religious references from the movie to try to prevent offending people. So the question becomes, will they do this through the rest of the series?

I don't see how they CAN is part of the problem. Apparently the series ends with a kid killing God. That's pretty straightforward.

And yeah, it's pretty. It looks fun. But I don't want this schmuck to get any of my money. Lord knows what he'd do with it 0_o If it gets good reviews I might watch it for free sometime. When I first found out about the crappy message I was really p.o'ed at the guy because the movie has awesome polar bears. I LIKE polar bears. And now, No Polar Bears for me.

There is always the internet, the haven of free stuff. You can get your polar bear fix that way, without paying for it. >:)
Fritters: Cat Pirate by Frittersfritters on December 3rd, 2007 07:55 pm (UTC)
I hadn't thought of that! Pirating it is almost like taking money FROM the production!
