Studying Assistance?
I'm supposed to be studying for a final, but I find I just can NOT create any sort of urgency in this. I'm taking forever to do ANYthing, and being very slapdash in my efforts to go over the material. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to create an artficial sense of urgency to get myself to try harder?

Weird question, I know.

EXAMPLE:

Logical brain: You should study

Rest of brain: *plays video games*

Logical brain: You're not going to have any time tomorrow evening to study.

Rest of brain: *plays video games*

Logical brain: Even if you pass without studying, you'll have a miserable time in the final.

Rest of brain: *plays video games*

Logical brain: You'll wonder for WEEKS if you did okay or if you ruined your GPA, it will be HELL if you don't study.

Rest of brain: "BLAME IT ALL ON MY ROOOOOOTS! I SHOWED UP IN BOOOOOOTS! AND RUINED YOUR BLACK TIE AFFAIR!"

Logical brain: *headdesk*

Sorry, can't help you there... I never got test anxiety... the fact that you, Miss Worrywart, don't have it makes me think that your subconcious knows you know it already. Or something. Perhaps I am full of shit.

Yooooooooouuuuuuuuu've got Friends in LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW Places....

WHERE THE WHISKEY DROWWNNNS AND BEEEEEER CHASES MY BLUUUUUUUES AWAYYYYYYYY

Awesome new icon, there.

It's mainly, if the teacher does what she's THINKING she's doing, I can probably bluff through it. If she changes her mind and puts a lot of fill in the blank then I'm in a bad way. It's a question of whether I want to throw the dice and try to roll both the teacher not changing things AND if I can bluff it...

Sorry, I can't really help you there I have the same problem. I keep writing my final paper in tiny bits, in between spending hours here, and researching for my hypothetical getaway to Portland as sooon as school's out. Then on Thursday, I have an in class essay on a class that I don't if I even finished most of the required reading for.

Wow.

We should poke each other to get the work done.

Or go play.

This is questionable advice, but it worked for me last time I had a big exam. Ephedrine tablets made me very alert and focused and I absorbed information like a sponge. I also drank Coke and took same tablets on the actual exam, which lasted a whopping 10 hours, and I got the best grade of my class. I didn't study all semester - but I memorized quotes from my text books the very last night before the test - stayed up all night. Remembered the quotes for the exam, and forgot them instantly afterwards.

I might be able to do something like that. I still have study time today and tomorrow morning...

I took twice the recommended dose. You should be OK, if you haven't any blood pressure issues. And it is very important to drink enough fluids, as the ephedrine drains your body from water. Coke is excellent, as it counteracts this slightly + it contains caffeine. At any rate - the best of luck to you!! *hugs*

One last thing - it's been a while - but I only ate chocolate on the exam, so that my blood sugar levels didn't drop - ephedrine has that effect, too, which needs to be counter-acted.

I don't actually have any ephedrine, so I was going to go the caffeine route...

*LAST ONE TO KNOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW, LAST ONE TO SHOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, I WAS THE LAST ONE YOU THOUGHT YOU'D SEE THEEEEEERRRRRRRE!*

That was always the hardest part of revision for me - making myself care!

Did you need to care or did it not really matter that much?
