If you fill out the form here they'll put your message on one of the pieces of confetti that falls on Times Square in New York at midnight, Dec. 31st...

Yeah, it's a neat toy knowing some stranger might come across it.

I've always wondered if the Times Square thing was a national observation for New Years... but I've also wondered what other time zones do. Do you watch the ball drop early, or do you watch a rerun??
Fritters: Drink! by Frittersfritters on December 31st, 2007 08:40 pm (UTC)
We watch the rerun ball drop from our local affiliates, adjusted to our time. It's real enough. I suspect that's what most people do (who aren't at lively parties, blah blah blah...)

Even the lively parties, we still flip on the TV at around 5 of to watch the ball drop. It's the only "official" way to ring in the new year.

I spent mine alone at my 'puter this year :-p blah blah blah indeed.

How come you didn't go out? I know you have friends...

Haha, that's rich! I haven't had any of those for a looong time. There are people around here I'm on friendly terms with, but that's about all I can say.

How was your New Year?

Dull, but less depressing than it could have been. Watched the first few episodes of Coyote Ragtime.

And you still could have gone out with the people you're on terms with. That's how you get to be friends.

Never heard of it. That's what I get for not spending the extra yen on cable. Is it any good? I've been looking for something decent to watch, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions? Just finished Battlestar Galactica, BTW. AWESOME!

And it's hard to go out when everyone's either in another country, with their families, or out doing stuff with other people. Especially when you're uninvited and the trains aren't running. Don't get me wrong, I'm trying. I'm just terribly, terribly cynical.

It's sort of traditional girlie anime, but I've been enjoying Yucie. Also, it's been out a while, but I seriously recommend Princess Tutu. Other than that Coyote Ragtime is semi-forgettable so far. The most fun thing we've been watching is Ninja Nonsense, which is completely disposable, but funfunfun.

We mainly get our anime off of the Anime on Demand network.

I thought broadcast TV had anime there?

Broadcast TV is only four channels (for me at least - I've got an ooollllld TV, and I live in the boonies where I can't even get radio reception). We get Chibi Maruko-chan, Sazai-san, this show about pre-pubescent ninja trainees, etc. They're all pretty darned boring. Chibi Maruko-chan is like Muppet Babies for a slightly older audience, and without much variety in the characters or all the weird/interesting/fun stuff that the Muppets had going for them. Basically, a kid and her family - heartwarming, blech. Sazai-san is like an animated Donna Reed. Aaand the ninja show is silly, but I've never been able to catch it at the beginning.

I'm sure there's more, but I don't know the tv schedule.

I mainly get anime online. Yay for lack of copyright laws! Yarrr!

How many DECADES has Chibi Maruko-chan been on the air??

The show about ninja trainees sounds a lot like Ninja Nonsense. Is there a big yellow ball happyface thingie?

Our main place for finding pirated online anime went under and they're all being sued =(
