What am I Doing Wrong?
I've got a lot of picture posts coming up, Fillmore/Piru, Old Trappers Statuary, Futurliner, Cats... I've posted some of my artwork and I've posted icons recently. It seems I'm getting a LOT less comments on things. Believe it or not, NO ONE in ALL the communities I posted in commented on ANY of the last icon set, and despite the fact that you're mostly readers I had no comments on my link to manybooks.net, either. I'd think I was posting too much, but I've actually (notwithstanding the last couple days) been posting about normally. Too many pictures? Not enough description? Pictures too small? Too much railing against outside forces lately? Too many links? Boring??

I'm asking because A: You're my friends and I'd like to think if I directly ask why everyone's commenting way less you'll actually tell me and not sugarcoat it and B: This journal isn't just for me, it's for BOTH of us. It's my way of connecting with all my far-flung friends and if you don't feel the need to communicate, it doesn't work for EITHER of us.

I would guess its mostly related to how much the post is related to my interests/knowledge so that I have something to say...

So mentioning fandom stuff is something that might get more comments?

Fandom, politics(if you think most commenters are mature enough to handle it), current events that don't have to do with celebrity gossip, etc.

But really, you shouldn't feel forced to talk about something. If you want to I'm more than happy to join in (assuming I've got something to add) but I don't want you going out of your way.

I feel like I should also mention that I've read every post you've put up recently, and I went and looked at your Puerto Rico pages and your 3 bears story. I enjoy all the posts even when I don't have something to comment. So I wouldn't want you to stop posting anything because you felt like it wouldn't get comments.

I know how frustrating it is though. I was so excited to do a voice post because I thought for sure I would get comments on whether or not I have an accent (at least). But I got nothing. Possibly because it was just a meme, but it still made me a little less inclined to do another one.

I'm certainly not going to feel forced to talk about anything, I asked because I was genuinely interested in people's suggestions, but it is still my journal.

That's a good point about not posting things I don't think will get comments. That sounds like something I'd do, doesn't it?

I have trouble with voice posts, so that's why I didn't comment.

Thanks for really thinking about and answering the question ^_^

Well I know it's something I've done before. So I imagine it at least passes through everyone else's mind occasionally. :)
