Yesterday my transmission went out. It will be 2000 dollars to fix it. School starts Monday. I still owe mom 2,600 for fixing this car and she can't loan me anymore.

I have no idea what to do and I'd elaborate on everything, (I was planning on it) but it would just be too depressing for you. Or for me. I'm not sure which.

You are actually insured when you drive someone else's car :D they want to know about your primary vehicle because that's what you're driving the most of the time, but you are still covered when you're driving another car that's not your primary. It's just that the car isn't covered. But the hitting-other-people coverage goes with you, the driver. It's the damage-to-this-car coverage that stays with the car.

If postrophe can't get his Mom's car to you in time to start school on Monday, let me know by Sunday noontime and you can absolutely borrow my car for as long as you need. (I have another one, which sees far too little use and needs a battery but I have a gift card to pay for the battery and have just been being lazy about actually getting it, and I'm not going to be going many places that take driving to for a while anyway, and can easily take bus/ask friend for ride to the places that do.) Either you could Greyhound down and drive it back, or I could drive it up and Greyhound back. :D It would be extra cool if you could let me know by the end of the day tomorrow, cause then I could spend the weekend in LA taking care of some business, but I don't mind at all if you can't let me know until Sunday night/early Monday morning even. ^____^ You going to school is extremely important.

My car is a stick, though -- can you drive a stick? If not, and you're willing to learn, I can teach you if we have at least a whole day while it's light out.

I talked to progressive and they said IF her car is insured, yeah, I'm covered, but otherwise to tell them what it is and they'll do it.

And I can't actually drive a stick ^_^ but thanks SO much for offering, that's just huge of you. Postrophe's mom's car is probably close enough to walk if I was REALLY desperate and had a day to kill, so I should be able to get to it by Sunday evening, with a ride from Martin.

Well, I still have to figure out if and how to fix my $2,600 paperweight, but I should at least be able to get this semester out of the way.

Can be arranged. It's on the street at the apartment; I just had to move it again to make sure it doesn't get mistaken for abandoned..
My only concern is I wanted to get it that AAA 100-point checkup (or howevem many points it is) to see if it needs any service for all the time it sat idle... but it started immediately and drove the fwy with no problems whe I took it up there last week.

Is it currently insured? If not, can you mail me the vital stats so I can add it to my insurance?

I hope it's something simple like a pump, it didn't make any grinding noises or anything. I'd love to be surprised with finding out it's only going to be 300.

Still gotta buy textbooks this month...

And have I said THANK YOU?!!?!?!?!

Registered, insured and everything.

Oh, does Pierce still have an automotive service class? Or the occupational/vocational school next door to it? Krystal just remembered you can get cheap fixes by going to a school, just like you can for beauty stuff.

They do have that, but they keep the cars for like 6 months.
