FYI...
For those of you who want to know, yes, there was a 5.4 quake, but it was on the opposite side of L.A. We're on the northwest side, it was on the southeast. I was at school, and the prof let me go home early, because I had the distinction of being the only person in the class having an anxiety attack 0_o. One wine bottle fell over at home, but didn't break. Everything is okay here except for the nerves of Hunley, Maxie and me.

I can't even imagine what going through that is like. Glad to hear your stuff survived intact. Take care of you and the critters.

Doin' my best. I think the best thing I can do for the weasels is be here and be reassuring.
zarniwhooperzarniwhooper on July 29th, 2008 07:45 pm (UTC)
In my experience with my two puppies, usually it's quite mutual- reassuring each other. :-) Yay for furry friends!

That would assume that I could reach them 0_o

They're WAY under the bed!

hey you aren't including me in those furry friends are ya?

I am sooooooo glad I live in AZ now. I do not miss those at all. I hope the shaking stops pretty soon and things get back to normal for you soon.

The strangeness will probably continue for the rest of the day. But yeah, I hate the frakkers, too. I want to live about 30 feet above a beach in the caribbean. Very few storm surges are over 30 feet.

Now, to win the lottery!!

Oh damn, I'm sorry hon. I hope the anxiety gets a handle on itself. I know I felt really nauseous for about half an hour afterwards, whether it was psychosomatic or vague aftershocks though, I'm not sure.

They're not exclusive. You feeling better?
Rev. Otanaotana on July 29th, 2008 08:12 pm (UTC)
Hmm, good point. And yes thanks, I'm not as queasy as I was. How are you doing?
Fritters: AD - Osaka Looking About by frittersfritters on July 29th, 2008 08:13 pm (UTC)
I've gotten too hungry to be queasy honestly, it's lunch time and my body is reminding me. I'm still pretty damn comfortable in front of the news, though, it's reassuring. I'll probably get off my butt and make lunch soon, though.

Think maybe you should take something if you're still queasy?

Hugs!

I've only felt an earthquake once before, and it was a very disconcerting feeling. I hope the kittehs are okay.
Fritters: Cat in silly hats by Frittersfritters on July 29th, 2008 08:31 pm (UTC)
They're gonna be pretty hungry if they don't come out for food soon. Otherwise, yeah, they're fine. When I check under the bed they give me the big eyes, Max won't come out at all, Hunley came out for a treat and then hid again, Skate seems totally fine.

As far as I can tell from the news 100% of everyone is okay, but it's news...
Lady Pixelladypixel on July 29th, 2008 09:17 pm (UTC)
I'm on the right side of LA for it, given that it was centered in Chino. It was a HELLUVA lot more powerful here than it was on your end of the world, given that we had crap all over the floor at the store.

But man, it was a blast. And Amber made the most horrifically weird sound. I am going to torture her about that half-shriek, half-indignant-YAWP for YEARS. It's grand.

(Seriously: for once, I didn't freak at the earthquake. This time, however, GARY fled the store. I was at home. If that gives you any indication how much crap was flying off the walls here, it was unreal. Real solid shaker here. Pomona has more damage than we do, tho.)

Oh, that bites, sweets. Is it cleaned up? Or how long will it take?

I'm glad you enjoyed it, any idea why this time was different?

So is the store sound?
Lady Pixelladypixel on July 30th, 2008 05:44 am (UTC)
Store's sound, it's all cleaned up, only 2 kachinas broke.

And I think I enjoyed it because I'm finally used to the damned things. Of course, the fact that I had a fifteen-year-old almost clinging to me didn't hurt. That was funny. :P

Axniety? Yuck. Hope you feel better soon...
(The bottle fell over & didn't break? Maybe it was offering to help...)
Frittersfritters on July 30th, 2008 05:42 am (UTC)
LOL! I didn't let it until later in the evening. In case there was a largish after I wanted to be capable of rational thought.
postrophe on July 31st, 2008 02:13 am (UTC)
Rationality can be overrated...

(And thanks to my misspelling I think I'm going to be deliberately calling it "ax-niety" from now on; you should too, maybe it'll help..)

Glad to hear
you're safe.... :-)

The Totally Free Crap feed came up with this Earthquake Preparedness book today. You may already have something similar but since it's a freebie it probably couldn't hurt to have another one..
