I should've posted this yesterday, I was more in the mood, actually, but I didn't want to spam y'all with 2 posts in one day. In any case, Sunday was a bit odd in the fact that it was all over the place. This is going to come across like a multipost. And these aren't the best photos I ever took, but I thought some might be interested anyways...
Firstly, meet Howard.
Howard is a hummingbird. His full name is Howard Yoyo. Every morning he sits on a bush right outside our patio door and sings, so any morning I open the patio door I can share my morning with Howard and be serenaded.
After Howard, I spent some time at church. I have no photos of that.
Then,
These are the two shots I got at the museum...
Great exhibit and great looking architecture on that museum, eh?
Oh, fine, if you want real content on that, here's a page about my favorite Lautner house. You see that dark line on the blueprint? That's the river that flows through the living room. As you overlook the ocean at Acapulco.
Afterwards, since we were in the neighborhood, they showed me the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
You see that bench on the left next to the lovely fountains? That's where Peggy Lee is. That, more than anything, floored me.
Brain: I love benches. And here Peggy Lee is right next to these beautiful fountains. She wanted people to be able to sit and enjoy the fountains and remember her. That's lovely.
Heart (and guts, and spleen, etc...): SIT!?! On Peggy Lee?? SACRILEGE!! NEVER!!
I was walking in little grid patterns the entire time I was there so as to avoid cheesing off anyone who might still be around.
He didn't, though. He walked jauntily anywhere he pleased ^_^
After peeking at bits of the Playboy Mansion, we headed up to Franklin Canyon Lake, one of the few places in Los Angeles where they let you get close to the water they've sequestered away.
Here's a little duck in a spray off water on one of the connecting ponds... Best duck shot I got that day, sorry...
As we were wandering we stumbled upon a guitar and bassoon concert...
These people are members of songmakers.org and were practicing outdoors. They invited us to have a listen. The first song was a fun little thing written by stonecutters only a few months back about... well... stonecutting.
This next shot is during the second song.
Yes, I have heard "Knights in White Satin" done on bassoon. Now I have something to put in that "interesting things I've done" meme when it rolls around again.
...erm.
That was supposed to be a coyote. Pretend it was a good shot of a coyote.
Daily Coyote, this is not.
As we wandered back toward home, where we eventually grabbed a
All in all, a strange, varied little day.
Big thanks to
