Since I'm doing nothing this Saturday, I figured I may as well do a picture post of what I did LAST Saturday. There was a fiesta at the San Gabriel Mission celebrating their 237th anniversary.
WARNING: This is probably going to be pretty dry.
Here are the best two shots of the mission exterior...
Mom and I wandered over to the Fiesta Proper but they were still setting up. I got a good picture of some rubber ducks at a carnival game, though, and turned them into a desktop for myself. If you want a version of this less washed out or a different size, let me know...
A simply-garbed monk in front of the graveyard/courtyard. This could be right out of history, if it weren't for the tourist sign behind him...
A simply-garbed monk getting a coke from the machine by the gift shop...
I just liked this shot...
A corridor I thought looked cool...
Some hibiscus...
Here's what the church interior looks like...
Father Junipero Serra oversees the garden...
Mom was interested in having some of the fruit. She learned that not only does the fruit have giant spikes on it, when you take the giant spikes off there are thousands of tiny almost invisible spikes all over it, too...
I loved the contrast in that pic. The life and the... not life.
Comment if you want. I know this was a quickie.
