Obama holding baby

I too would have voted "Remains the same" for your first question. Absent that choice, I selected the response which was not negative. So you may split my vote in half if you wish.

I like to feel that (at least to an extent, and by my own definition) I am realistic. President Obama is a politician, and he will sometimes do things that will frustrate those who supported him going in. Including me. That's the way things are.

On the other hand, I do not think he's going to lead the country into socialism, or godlessness, or a society with entitlement for welfare mothers to drive Cadillacs, or anything like that. He's going to be left of center, and if he appoints anybody to the Supreme Court it will probably be somebody who is not conservative; and already he is more pro-science than George W. Bush was, at least in my opinion.

I voted for Obama, and I do not consider him a savior or redeemer. Neither did I vote for him as "the lesser of two evils," but as the one whose necessary compromises are going to be closer to my political inclinations than Sen. McCain's would have been. My take on his character is that he honestly wants the USA to remain the greatest country in the world, and that he honestly wants prosperity and the opportunities for peace (or at least the absence of unnecessary wars), but he and his team have markedly different views, from those of the Republicans who were in power for the previous eight years, on how that is to be achieved. Sure, he's arrogant. But show me a person who wants to be president of the USA who doesn't have that as part of his or her "drive."

Speaking of which, the person among the candidates whom I really despise and deplore is Gov. Palin, but that's for another day, perhaps, and another forum.
